GypWall RAPID dB Plus

GypWall RAPID dB Plus is a single layer housing metal stud internal wall partition system providing acoustic performance set by the Approved Document E of the Building Regulations. It is very lightweight and easy to install since being timber-free, offering an adequate alternative for the timber stud but also impact resistance and fire resistance of up to 30 minutes. It is available both with horizontal (900mm centres) and without noggins (450mm centres).

Certain consideration should be taken into account upon installation, including:

• service positions should be planned at the frame erection stage;
• in case the room layout includes structural steelwork, there might be a slight loss of acoustic performance through the steelwork;
• smoke and flame closure can be achieved with Gyproc SoundBloc RAPID which should be screw-fixed into the vertical studs or perimeter channels web;
• electrical services should be installed in accordance with BS 7671 while in order of avoiding abrasion of the cables running through the metal frame, they should be protected with the conduit or other adequate mean of protection;
• when conducting heating pipes through the partition, it is advised that each aperture within the metal framework holds only one heating pipe or if this is not possible, some means that will be able to separate the pipes should be installed in order of preventing vibration noise;
• a service duct should be created wherever larger number of pipes or cables need to be installed while electrical cables should be attached in accordance with the BS 7671;
• lightweight fixtures can be installed directly to the partitions while medium ones may require additional fixing channels.
