Knauf Aquapanel Exterior Basecoat - 25 Kg

Knauf Aquapanel Exterior Basecoat is a cement-based reinforcing mortar enhanced with synthetic resin. It is used for basecoating of Aquapanel External Cement Board when finishing with a thin layer of decorative render or paint.

• Ensure that the surfaces of the Aquapanel Exterior Cement Boards are dry and dust-free. Make sure the Aquapanel Joint Filler into which Aquapanel Tape is embedded is adequately hardened and dry. 
• Mix contents of the 25 kg bag with approx. 6.30 litres of clean water for approx. 2 minutes. 
• Apply Aquapanel Exterior Basecoat 5 mm thick, spread to achieve a flat surface, free from irregularities. Reinforcing strips approx. 300x500mm are placed diagonally from the corners of all building openings. The mesh strips must start directly from the corners beneath the mesh layer over the full surface.
• Next, embed Aquapanel Reinforcing Mesh horizontally over the full surface, keeping it free of folds, close to the surface and with 10 cm overlaps. Laying time is approx. 15 min. Open time is approx 20 min at approx 20C.
• For plaster layers with grain size <1mm or for easy-to-spread felted surfaces, use a 200mm wide strip of Aquapanel Exterior Reinforcing Tape over the board joints as additional reinforcement.
• The total dry thickness of the reinforcing layer formed from the Aquapanel Exterior Basecoat and Aquapanel Reinforcing Mesh should be a minimum of 4 mm.
• The rework time for Aquapanel Exterior Basecoat is approximately 24 hours at 20C. However, this time may be extended depending on temperature and humidity.
• Where reinforced mortar surfaces are later to be in contact with banked earth or grit, make sure they are sealed according to current norms and standards after curing and drying to approx. 5 cm above the top edge of the ground contact area.
• Process large surface areas using a plaster machine.
