GypFloor SILENT
GypFloor SILENT is a system especially designed to upgrade the acoustic performance so it meets the values prescribed by the applicable Building Regulation Approved Document E. It can easily be installed, without over-increasing the depth of the floor, offering a resilient interface and especially applicable to reconstruction and refurbishment projects of timber joists and internal floors in residential dwellings. The system offer protection from both airborne and impact sound, but also a certain level of fire resistance of 30 to 90 minutes.
Certain consideration should be taken into account upon installation, including:
- the ceiling linings are to be fixed before the plastering or dry walling to the walls is added and if this cannot be achieved then the linings should tightly abut the wall;
- since it is designed for floors able to bear the distributed load of up to 5.0kN/m2 and point load of 4.5kN, the support floor joists load capacity should always be checked;
- all surrounding and associated structure should also be able to meet the acoustic performance of the system, in order of confirming to the applicable regulation;
- if possible, services should follow the floor joists line but must always be accordingly installed so that they allow easy access to the floor zone from above.
