Non-Loadbearing timber stud

Non-Loadbearing timber stud is applicable to both new-build and refurbishment non-loadbearing applications, off site and commercial applications. The system can achieve substantial fire-resistance performance and is in accordance with the internal partition requirements set by the Approved Document E of the Building Regulation through both twin frame and single constructions which include Gypframe RB1 Resilient Bar. The system offers airborne sound insulation of 34 - 63 Rw dB and fire resistance of 30 - 120 minutes.

Certain consideration should be taken into account upon installation, including:

• service positions should be planned at the frame erection stage and in order of avoiding defects to the ceiling finish, seasoning timber must not contain moisture exceeding the values set in the BS 5268: Part 2;
• cavity barriers should be installed of required by Building Regulations;
• when accommodating services, every penetration should be carefully planned and positioned in order of avoiding such penetrations to affect the system’s fire resistance and acoustic performance while electrical services should be installed in accordance with BS 7671;
• aligned and leveled timber should meet the requirements of BS 5268;
• British Gypsum Drywall Timber Screws should be used to fix the boards to the framing members in order of reducing the risks of loosening of nails;
• lightweight fixtures can be installed directly to the partitions while medium and heavyweight ones can be installed directly into the timber suports.
