Aluminium Base track has a box profile, so as to hold the external insulation perfectly, and available in standard widths. Its front face can also hold PVC clips with mesh to hold render over the insulation layer. These PVC clips have angled drip edge. Base tracks are also available in galvanised steel and stainless steel.
Base tracks are applied along the top of the building damp proof course. Bridging the damp proof course with base track fixings should be avoided. Avoid small cuts and always allow for a 2mm gap between sections to accommodate thermal expansion. Installation should as per specification and appropriate for the substrate. If there are gaps between the substrate and the base track, those gaps should be packed out with mortar or suitable sealant to level the track and to prevent any future system failure. Avoid warping the base track by fixing into an uneven wall surface.
Aluminium Stop tracks and stop beads are used at the end of external insulation and render systems. Stop Profiles are affixed vertically, typically along a wall boundary or around openings such as doors, windows or pipework that must remain exposed.
Oversill flashings and undersill flashings are used on top and the bottom of window openings and other openings to stop the rain water from directly attacking the render.
Aluminium Verge profiles are designed to protect the system on gable ends and roof lines.
When rendering up to any point on the external wall, where the insulation system stops at, such as a stop bead, doors and windows, verges, other openings etc. a soft joint should be applied to ensure the render surface is completely sealed flush to the surface it meets. Soft joints are formed using an appropriate compressible seal or a suitable silicone sealant. This would stop the ingress of water behind render and prevent any system failure.

All render beads should be carefully cut to the required size and set to one side prior to application. A good quality basecoat should be applied to the area and the bead bedded in. Allow to set prior to the main basecoat layer being applied, or hold profiles in place with plastic plug fixings. Make sure all render bead joints are perfectly aligned.
Stop beads can be used as a means of dividing the wall surface into sections or as a means to create a break to allow work to be completed in sections, or at the end system. Base profiles also come with mesh.
Movement beads are used to express joints that are in the substrate. These can be used to break up large panel sizes and used to indicate the boundary lines of attached properties. The expansion joints shoudn't be covered with insulation.
Corner beads are used mainly to create a straight edge at wall corners and in reveals. They are available with or without a detachable plastic nose.
Mesh wing corner beads are used where corners or reveals are to be formed without a protruding edge. The fibreglass mesh wing allows for these beads to be completely bedded into the render system for maximum strength on system stress points. Ensure that the mesh is fully covered by basecoat and is not visible and that the main mesh or scrim cloth wall covering overlaps the corner bead mesh.
Expansion joint profiles allow the external insulation and render systems to move elastically, when the structure expands. There are also corner expansion joint profiles.
