GypLyner Independent Internal Wall Lining System
GypLyner Independent System is a lightweight, non‑loadbearing internal wall lining solution designed to be built entirely independently of the background wall. It is ideal for situations where fixing into the existing substrate is difficult or not possible, such as buildings with uneven masonry, waterproof tanking, steel frames, or lightweight external cladding. By creating a free‑standing metal frame fixed only at the floor and soffit, the system eliminates background irregularities, provides a generous cavity for services, and delivers high levels of fire, acoustic, and thermal performance. The system can be configured as single or double‑layer plasterboard linings depending on performance requirements.
A typical GypLyner Independent build‑up includes:
- Gypframe ‘I’ Studs (48, 60, 70, 92 or 146 mm depending on height and performance).
- Gypframe Floor & Ceiling Channels to support the independent frame.
- Optional Isover mineral wool insulation within the cavity for acoustic or thermal enhancement.
- Gyproc plasterboards such as WallBoard, FireLine, DuraLine, or Moisture Resistant variants.
- Gyproc jointing materials or Thistle/ThistlePro plasters for finishing.
Key Features
- Fully independent framework — no fixings required into the external wall.
- Fire resistance from 30 to 90 minutes to BS EN 1364‑1, depending on board and insulation specification.
- Excellent acoustic performance, typically 59–61 Rw dB when installed against a 103 mm solid brick wall.
- Thermal performance ranging from 0.35 to 0.16 W/m²K, depending on insulation and board type.
- Duty ratings available up to Severe Duty to BS 5234, suitable for high‑traffic environments.
- Ideal for concealing services — the independent frame allows unrestricted cavity depth.
- Removes background irregularities, producing a smooth, plumb surface ready for finishing.
- Covered by the SpecSure lifetime warranty when installed as part of a full British Gypsum system.
Typical Applications
- Buildings where background fixing is not possible (e.g., tanked basements, steel frames).
- Thermal upgrades of external walls.
- Acoustic upgrades to existing masonry or lightweight structures.
- Fire protection to structural steel sections behind the lining.
- Commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and high‑rise applications.
