12.5mm Knauf Sound Panel is a high-performance acoustic plasterboard designed to enhance sound insulation in residential, commercial, and educational environments. It is a specialist drylining product that offers a significant acoustic upgrade compared to standard gypsum wallboard. The Knauf Sound panel is fully compatible with Knauf's complete range of fixings, jointing tapes, and finishing products, and can be finished with a final skim coat of plaster or direct decoration once the joints are complete. It is easy to score and snap, facilitating quick and straightforward installation on site.

CHARACTERISTICS

• The board is manufactured with a denser, aerated gypsum core compared to conventional plasterboard.
• This increased mass is the primary mechanism for restricting the transfer of airborne sound between adjacent rooms or properties.
• Offers enhanced levels of sound performance where a minimum of 10kg/m2 is required.
• It is specifically engineered to meet elevated sound insulation requirements, often assisting in achieving compliance with Building Regulations Approved Document E (Resistance to the Passage of Sound).
• The product features a blue paper face, making it instantly recognisable on site as a specialist acoustic board.
• The board usually features a tapered edge (TE), which simplifies jointing and allows for a seamless, smooth finish when taped and filled with Knauf jointing compounds.
• Fire rating: A2-s1, d0 (B).

APPLICATION

• Partitions and Internal Walls: Reducing noise transmission between bedrooms, living areas, or flats in multi-occupancy buildings.
  
• Ceilings: Installing beneath floor joists or rafters to minimise sound transfer from the floor above.
  
• Wall Linings: Used in conjunction with metal stud frames or in combination with other acoustic materials (like mineral wool cavity insulation) to create a robust acoustic system.
