22x22mm Profigips Aluminium Corner Bead is designed to reinforce external corners, providing a straight edge that protects the vulnerable plasterboard junction from impact and chipping. Because it is so rigid yet thin, it allows for a very low-profile finish that is easily blended into the wall surface. Aluminium allows for a much tighter, sharper apex than PVC. If the architectural design calls for crisp, razor-straight lines—particularly around window reveals or chimney breasts—this is the professional choice.

CHARACTERISTICS

• Despite being incredibly light and easy to handle on-site, the aluminium spine provides excellent structural rigidity, helping to straighten out minor deviations in the underlying plasterboard.
• The wings are precision-punched with a pattern of circular or diamond perforations. This ensures the plaster or jointing compound flows through the bead, creating a rock-solid bond with the substrate.
• In standard internal environments, aluminium is naturally resistant to oxidation. It won't rust or bleed through the paintwork in the same way that inferior galvanised steel beads might if the environment becomes slightly damp.
• It can be quickly and cleanly snipped to length using standard tin snips, making it very efficient for fast-paced interior fit-outs.

APPLICATION

• Drylining & Partitioning: The standard finisher for GypWall or other metal stud partition corners.
• Internal Plastering: Used with thin-coat gypsum plasters (skimming) to create durable, straight edges.
• Window & Door Reveals: Providing a crisp termination point where the wall meets the frame.
• Bulkheads & Feature Ceilings: Ideal for the complex geometries often found in modern office lighting troughs or coffered ceilings.

INSTALLATION

• The bead is typically bedded into dabs of jointing compound or plaster. For a more secure initial fix on drylining, it can be stapled directly to the plasterboard using stainless steel staples.
• Because aluminium is rigid, it is excellent for levelling out corners that are slightly out of true. Use a long spirit level to ensure the nose is perfectly plumb.
• When skimming, ensure the plaster is feathered out at least 150mm to 200mm from the bead. This ensures the slight bump of the aluminium wing is completely invisible once the wall is painted.
• While aluminium is durable, avoid using it in direct contact with wet cement-based renders or in very high-alkalinity environments, as this can cause a chemical reaction. Stick to gypsum for the best results
