23x23mm Profigips PVC Corner Bead is designed for reinforcing and defining 90-degree external corners in both internal plastering and external rendering. By using high-impact PVC instead of metal, it eliminates the risk of corrosion and tea-staining, which is particularly vital in the damp British climate. It is the direct, rust-proof successor to the traditional galvanised steel bead, offering better durability and easier handling on-site.

CHARACTERISTICS

• Unlike the universal bead, this profile is manufactured to a fixed right angle. This provides a very stable and straight edge that helps the contractor achieve perfectly plumb corners across large elevations.
• The wings feature rows of circular or oval perforations. These are specifically engineered to allow the render or plaster to key through the bead, creating a mechanical lock that ensures the profile becomes an integral part of the wall structure.
• The thick PVC nose is designed to absorb shocks. In high-traffic areas like hallways or external corners near walkways, it prevents the render from shattering or chipping upon impact.
• Made from premium UV-stabilised PVC, the bead will not become brittle over time when exposed to sunlight. It is also completely inert, meaning it will not react with the salts or alkalis found in modern cementitious or gypsum-based products.
• It can be cut easily with tin snips or a fine saw, leaving no sharp edges or burrs. This makes it safer to handle on scaffolding compared to sharp metal alternatives.

APPLICATION

• External Rendering: Used on 90-degree corners of buildings, window reveals, and door openings in thin-coat render systems.
• Internal Plastering: Ideal for high-moisture areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and wet rooms where metal beads would eventually rust.

INSTALLATION

• The bead can be bedded into dabs of mortar or fixed mechanically with stainless steel staples or nails. For external use, always bed the bead into the basecoat to ensure no voids are left behind the wings.
• Because the wings are rigid, once the bead is fixed, it provides a very straight edge. Always use a long spirit level to ensure the corner is perfectly vertical before the mortar sets.
• Apply the render or plaster generously, ensuring it is pressed through the perforations. Use the nose of the bead as your depth gauge to achieve a uniform thickness across the wall.
• Unlike metal beads that sometimes require priming to prevent reaction with certain renders, this PVC bead is ready to use straight out of the pack.
