23x23mm Profigips PVC Corner Bead with Oval Nose is a profile that replaces the traditional sharp 90-degree apex with a smooth, rounded bullnose. It is the ideal choice for creating a bullnose finish on external corners using either internal plaster or external thin-coat render. While most corner beads aim for a needle-point finish, the Profigips PVC Corner Bead with Oval Nose is designed for a softer, more rounded aesthetic.

CHARACTERISTICS

• The rounded profile is much more resistant to chipping than a sharp corner. If a heavy object strikes a sharp corner, the render often shatters; with an oval nose, the impact is better distributed across the PVC surface.
• Because the corner is rounded rather than pointed, it is significantly safer in environments like schools, hospitals, or nurseries where accidental collisions are common.
• The wings provide a solid, flat surface for fixing. The precision-punched holes allow the plaster or render to flow through and wrap around the bead, creating a permanent mechanical bond with the substrate.

INSTALLATION

• The bead can be bedded in adhesive dabs or fixed mechanically using stainless steel staples or nails. Ensure the bead is perfectly plumb using a spirit level, as the rounded nose can sometimes make visual alignment trickier than a sharp edge.
• When trowelling the render or plaster, ensure the material is worked right up to the start of the rounded section. The very apex of the PVC oval should remain visible to act as the finished edge.
• Press the material firmly through the perforations to ensure the bead is locked into the wall.
• Once the plaster or render is dry, the PVC nose can be painted over. The rounded shape allows for a very consistent paint finish without the thinning often seen on sharp 90-degree edges.
