40mm STEICOtherm Dry is a multi-purpose, rigid wood-fibre insulation slab. Because of its manufacturing process, it is significantly lighter than the "Wet" version, making it the preferred choice for large-scale roof and wall applications where reducing the structural load is key. the STEICOtherm Dry represents the modern, high-performance evolution of wood-fibre insulation. Manufactured using a "Dry" process with a tiny amount of PMDI binder, these boards are lighter, thicker, and offer better pure insulation values than their wet-process counterparts.
CHARCTERISTICS
- The dry process creates a more "lofty" board with more trapped air. This gives it a lower thermal conductivity meaning you get more "warmth" for every millimetre of thickness.
- Unlike wet boards, which are usually limited in thickness, STEICOtherm Dry can be produced in single-layer slabs up to 240mm. This allows for incredibly fast installation on sites aiming for Passive House standards.
- These slabs are much easier to manhandle onto roofs or up scaffolding than the denser wet boards.
- Despite using a binder, the board remains over 94% natural wood fibre, is fully recyclable, and acts as a massive carbon sink for the building's duration.
APPLICATION
- Roof Insulation: Ideal for "on-top" rafter insulation or between rafters where high thermal performance is required.
- Timber Frame Walls: Used as an external sheathing or internal lining to provide a breathable, high-performance thermal envelope.
- Floor Systems: Suitable for use under screeds or floorboards where a high degree of compressive strength is needed alongside thermal insulation.
