6mm Profigips Brown PVC APU Bead with Mesh is a specialist profile is the industry standard for modern EWI and thin-coat render systems. The addition of the alkali-resistant mesh ensures that the render reveal is physically tied into the rest of the wall's reinforcement, virtually eliminating the risk of cracks appearing at the window edges. By adding the integrated glass fibre mesh, this profile provides a significantly stronger bond between the window frame and the main reinforcement layer of an External Wall Insulation (EWI) system.

CHARACTERISTICS

• The profile comes with a factory-bonded strip of glass fibre mesh (usually 100 mm or 150 mm wide). This mesh is overlapped with the main wall mesh to create a continuous, reinforced skin around the window opening.
• Features the same soft PVC or rubber gasket as the standard version, providing a flexible, watertight seal against the window or door frame.
• By creating a permanent, flexible seal, it prevents air leakage (draughts) around the window frame and helps the building meet high-efficiency standards like Passivhaus.
• Includes the self-adhesive strip and snap-off flap, allowing the contractor to easily mask off the window with protective foil during the messy rendering stages.
• The integrated foam tape and gasket allow the window frame to expand and contract independently of the render, protecting the finish from structural stress.

APPLICATION

• External Rendering: Used in External Wall Insulation systems to provide a watertight seal around window and door reveals.
• Internal Plastering: Applied to internal window reveals to create a sharp, crack-free finish before painting.
• Renovation Projects: Ideal for upgrading the airtightness and appearance of window junctions in older buildings.

INSTALLATION

• When installing, the 100mm mesh wing should be embedded into the basecoat. The main wall reinforcement mesh must then overlap this wing by at least 100mm to ensure full structural integrity.
• Use specialist mitre shears or a fine-toothed saw to cut the PVC profile. The mesh can be easily trimmed with a utility knife or scissors.
• For the best results, the profile should be stuck to the clean window frame 24 hours before rendering begins to allow the adhesive to reach full strength.
• Only snap off the protective flap once the final topcoat of render is completely dry to avoid getting any finish on the clean gasket or the window frame.
