6mm Profigips Graphite PVC APU Bead (also known as a window profile with gasket) is a specialist accessory used to create a clean, waterproof, and flexible connection between window or door frames and the external render or internal plaster. This profile is designed to solve the common problem of cracking at the junction where the window frame meets the wall finish. It features an integrated foam gasket and a self-adhesive strip, ensuring a professional finish that protects the building envelope.

CHARACTERISTICS

• The profile includes a soft PVC or rubber gasket that presses against the window frame. This creates a neat finish and prevents water, dust, and wind from penetrating the joint.
• The profile allows for the thermal expansion and contraction of the window frame. By decoupling the render from the frame, it prevents the unsightly "hairline" cracks that typically appear over time.
• It features a removable adhesive flap. This allows the contractor to stick a protective plastic sheet over the entire window during the rendering or plastering process, keeping the glass and frames clean from splashes.
• Once the render is applied and the protective flap is snapped off, it leaves a perfectly straight, white edge against the window frame.
• The profile is manufactured from UV-stabilised PVC, ensuring that the white finish will not yellow or become brittle when exposed to direct sunlight over many years.

INSTALLATION

• The window frame must be completely clean, dry, and free of grease before applying the profile. Use a solvent-based cleaner if necessary to ensure the adhesive strip bonds correctly.
• The profile is stuck directly to the window frame. The render or plaster is then applied up to the edge of the profile.
• Once the render has dried, the outer plastic flap (which held the protective foil) is snapped off, leaving a clean, hidden gasket joint.
• This profile is a key component in achieving a high-performance building envelope, as it significantly reduces air leakage around openings.
