80mm STEICO Top is a high-density wood-fibre insulation board with a specially hardened surface. It is designed to be laid directly onto the floor of a cold loft (the ceiling of the room below), providing a quick and efficient way to thermally upgrade a building without the need for a complex timber deck on top. STEICO top is a specialist wood-fibre board designed specifically for insulating the floor of an attic that is used for storage but not as a primary living space. It is a unique product because it provides both high insulation performance and a surface that can be walked on directly.
CHARCTERISTICS
- The boards feature a specially densified top layer. Unlike standard soft wood-fibre boards, you can walk directly on these for maintenance or storage purposes without damaging the insulation.
- It is highly breathable. It allows moisture to pass through the ceiling and the board, preventing condensation and mould growth in the timber structure below.
- Because it is made of natural wood-fibre, it has a high heat storage capacity. This helps keep the rooms below cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
- The boards are easy to handle in the tight confines of a loft hatch. They can be cut simply with a hand saw or a circular saw.
- The boards are designed to fit together tightly, reducing the risk of thermal bridging and ensuring the surface remains stable underfoot.
APPLICATION
- Loft Floor Insulation: Providing thermal protection on the floor of unheated attics.
- Storage Areas: Creating a stable, insulated floor in lofts that are used for light storage.
- Renovation: An ideal solution for upgrading old ceiling insulation where height and ease of access are primary concerns.
