Hush Acoustic & Intumescent Sealant - 900ml is a multi-functional sealant specifically developed to provide both superior sound insulation and critical fire resistance in building constructions. It is designed to ensure that acoustic performance is not compromised by air leakage and that fire safety standards are rigorously met. When exposed to heat during a fire, it will intumesce, meaning it expands significantly to create a dense, protective char. This char effectively seals off gaps and penetrations, preventing the passage of fire, smoke, and hot gases for a specified duration, often providing up to 5 hours of fire resistance. Its inherent acoustic properties are crucial for soundproofing. Sound can easily pass through even small gaps and cracks, undermining the effectiveness of otherwise well-designed acoustic systems. This sealant ensures airtightness around perimeters, joints, and service penetrations (e.g., pipes, cables), thereby maintaining the acoustic integrity of walls, floors, and ceilings.
