STEICOmulti Nail - Nail Sealing Tape for Counter-Battens - 50mm x 30m roll

Length: 30000mm
Width: 50mm

STEICOmulti Nail is a single-sided, self-adhesive sealing tape made from high-quality closed-cell polyethylene. It is designed to be applied beneath counter-battens to create a watertight seal around the penetrations made by nails and screws, preventing water from tracking into the rafter space. STEICOmulti nail (often referred to as nail sealing tape) is a critical component for ensuring the long-term watertightness of a roof. When you fix counter-battens over a breather membrane, every nail or screw creates a potential leak path; this tape is the gasket that seals those holes.

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Made from expanded polyethylene with a synthetic rubber adhesive. The closed-cell nature means it cannot absorb water, ensuring that even if water gets under the batten, it won't soak into the tape or the timber.
  • The tape is highly compressible and elastic. When a nail or screw is driven through the counter-batten and the tape, the material tightly hugs the fastener, creating a permanent gasket.
  • Engineered to last the lifetime of the roof, it is resistant to rot and the temperature fluctuations common in roofing voids.
  • Supplied in 30m rolls, it is easy to apply directly from the roll onto the membrane or the underside of the batten.
  • It provides an additional layer of security, especially when using STEICOmulti UDB or STEICOsafe as a temporary roof covering before the tiles are laid.

APPLICATION

  • Roof Construction: Applied under counter-battens on pitched roofs to seal the primary fixings.
  • Timber Frame Walls: Can also be used behind vertical battens in rainscreen cladding systems to protect the breather membrane from moisture ingress at fixing points.
  • Renovation Projects: Essential when upgrading old roofs to modern airtight and watertight standards.
