10x10mm Profigips PVC Corner Bead with Mesh Wings is a dual-component solution for external corners. It features a rigid, UV-stabilised PVC nose bonded to two wings of alkali-resistant glass fibre mesh. This design ensures that the corner of the building is not just straight and sharp, but also structurally tied into the main mesh reinforcement of the entire facade.

CHARACTERISTICS

• The central PVC spine acts as a permanent shield for the corner. It is designed to take the brunt of any knocks or scrapes, preventing the render from chipping or cracking at its most vulnerable point.
• The factory-bonded mesh is designed to withstand the highly alkaline environment of cement-based basecoats. Because the mesh is already attached, it saves significant time on-site and ensures a perfectly symmetrical reinforcement of the corner.
• The rigid PVC nose serves as a precise depth gauge for the renderer. By running the trowel along the nose, the contractor can achieve a consistent thickness of basecoat and topcoat across the entire elevation.
• Unlike traditional metal beads, this PVC and mesh combination will never corrode. This eliminates the risk of rust streaks or tea-staining, which is essential for maintaining a clean aesthetic on light-coloured silicone or acrylic renders.
• By overlapping the main wall mesh onto the mesh wings of the bead, you create a continuous, flexible skin around the building that can absorb thermal expansion and minor structural movements without cracking.

INSTALLATION

• Apply a generous layer of basecoat adhesive to both sides of the corner first. Press the bead into the wet mortar so that the basecoat oozes through the mesh.
• Use a long spirit level to ensure the PVC nose is perfectly vertical. Because the mesh is flexible, you have a small window of time to adjust the position before the adhesive begins to set.
• This is the most critical step. The main reinforcement mesh of the wall must overlap the mesh wings of the corner bead by at least 100 mm. This prevents the vertical hairline cracks that often occur at the junction between the bead and the wall.
• Use a damp cloth or brush to wipe the very tip of the PVC nose clean before the render sets. This ensures a sharp, professional line is visible once the topcoat is applied.
