180mm STEICO Protect L Dry is a lightweight, rigid wood-fibre insulation board designed specifically for ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite System) applications. It is engineered to be bonded directly to flat, solid surfaces such as masonry, brickwork, or Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), providing a robust, breathable base for external render. STEICO Protect L Dry (where 'L' stands for Light) is the high-performance choice for solid, flat substrates. It offers the best thermal insulation value in the entire Protect range.

CHARCTERISTICS

• With a declared thermal conductivity of 0.037 W/(m⋅K), it is the most insulating board in the Protect series. This allows you to achieve lower U-values with a thinner board compared to the denser H or M variants.
• It is significantly lighter than other render boards. This makes it much easier to handle on-site, especially when working with the thicker panels (up to 240mm) required for high-performance retrofits.
• It is highly breathable. It allows moisture to pass through the wall construction safely, protecting the building fabric from rot and improving indoor air quality.
• Despite its lower density compared to Universal boards, its high specific heat capacity still provides excellent thermal buffering, keeping the interior cool during the summer months.
• Typically supplied with square edge profile, making it ideal for fast installation on flat, mineral substrates where a tongue-and-groove joint is not required for structural racking.

APPLICATION

• Solid Masonry Walls: The ideal choice for retrofitting insulation to existing brick or stone houses.
• Solid Wood Walls (CLT): Perfect for modern mass-timber constructions where a flat, continuous substrate is provided.
• Full-Surface Substrates: Unlike the H or M versions, Protect L Dry must be supported across its entire surface; it is not suitable for fixing directly across open timber studs.
