40mm STEICO Universal Dry is a high-performance, rigid wood-fibre board designed for both roof and wall applications. It is engineered to provide a wind-tight, weather-protecting "skin" for the building envelope. Using the dry manufacturing process allows for a board that is easier to handle than its wet-process counterpart while providing superior thermal resistance. Because it is made using the "Dry Process," it is lighter, offers better insulation values, and is available in much greater thicknesses.
CHARCTERISTICS
- Triple-Action Protection: It acts as a secondary water-shedding layer, a wind-tight barrier, and a high-performance insulation layer all in one.
- Superior Thermal Performance: It is more thermally efficient than the wet-process Universal board.
- Excellent Summer Heat Protection: Despite being lighter than the wet board, it still provides significant thermal mass. This helps prevent the "attic sauna" effect by delaying heat transfer into the building.
- Precision Tongue & Groove: Features a robust 4-sided T&G profile that creates a wind-tight seal. This interlocking joint is designed to shed water, protecting the structure from driving rain during construction.
- Temporary Weathering: The boards are treated with a natural paraffin wax, allowing them to remain exposed to the elements as a temporary roof or wall covering for up to 4 weeks.
APPLICATION
- Roof Sarking: Installed over the rafters to create a continuous insulation layer that eliminates "cold bridging" through the timber.
- Wall Sheathing: Used on the outside of timber frame studs. It provides a breathable, weather-resistant layer that can be finished with timber cladding or a ventilated rainscreen.
- Refurbishment: Ideal for upgrading existing roofs from the outside, providing a fast way to achieve modern U-values without disturbing the internal finish.
