Are You Feeling Comfortable within your Home?

Added insulation can have many positive effects, not only for your home, but can also make a substantial global impact in reference to environmental protection. This is the main reason more and more people every day are deciding to install some insulation within their home, estimating this as a good, long term investment. Basically, what insulation can do for you is raise the overall comfort level within your UK home by optimising the temperature and also putting under control some other negative effects such as moisture, damp or noise.

Due to the fact that insulation and energy efficiency is a very popular topic nowadays, the undertaken surveys show that the number of people willing to invest into their home and the percentage of people pleased with the final results is growing each day. As the Super Home Research Report for 2014, made in collaboration with National Energy Foundation, Felicity Williams and supported by Santander Universities SME Internship Programme, shows, even 95% of home owners have rated their home comfort level as Excellent or Good, upon installing insulation, whereas 25% have invested more than £50.000 into insulating their home and all the owners have achieved carbon saving of around 60%. The report included experiences and statements from visitors to SuperHomes, website visitors, enquirers and home owners. Not only that the participants have stated that they are pleased with the level of comfort achieved once proper insulation measures have been installed, but even three out of five visitors have stated that it is very likely that they will invest into home insulation, with average investment of £5.770 in the period of 12 months.

The importance of proper information on all the positive effects of insulation can also be seen through the fact that even 27% of visitors invested into adding insulation within the following 12 months and 41% within the period of 24 months. What participants identified as the most important goal of adding insulation was energy efficiency and climate change. What 96% of the participants identified as the thing they are pleased the most after adding wall insulation is the warmth of their home, the time it stays warm and the speed the temperature reaches optimal level.

All the aforementioned facts and results only accentuate the importance of adding proper insulation, firstly to your walls as probably the weakest point of your home. This can be done either internally (with adding insulation to the inner side of the wall) or externally by retrofitting some of the available external wall insulation systems that include a number of components specially designed to not only insure proper insulation but also provide a smooth finish for the exterior. If you have decided to add external insulation, we advise you firstly consult your local building control service in order of checking whether this is possible (in reference to historical and listed buildings) and if possible, which permits are required.
