Novia Reflex Reflective Roof and Wall Breather 1.5m x 50m Roll

Novia Reflex Reflective Roof and Wall Breather is a strong, lightweight, high quality low cost reflective breather membrane for all pitched cold and warm roofs and insulated wall applications. It can be installed in roofs as an ordinary breather membrane. This membrane can be installed upside down in an unventilated low emissivity cavity. Correctly used, the membrane will deliver improved R and values. The product has excellent water resistance and also provides high breathability.

APPLICATION

• For pitched cold and warm roofs,
• For insulated wall applications.

INSTALLATION

To walls

• Ensure upper layers overlap lower layers.
• Work from the bottom moving upwards and ensuring there are minimum overlaps of 100 mm on the horizontal joints.
• Do not begin a vertical lap joint within 300 mm of a corner,
• Vertical laps should be at least 150 mm.
• Ensure the bottom timber is also protected by an overlap.
• Fix at suitable intervals with galvanised nails, stainless staples or similar permanent fixings.
  

To roofs

• Ensure upper layers overlap lower layers.
• Work from the bottom moving upwards and ensure there are minimum overlaps.
• The membrane should be overlapped 200 mm on each side of the ridge.
• All vertical overlaps must be situated on a rafter and must be sealed.
• Fix at suitable intervals with galvanised nails, stainless staples or similar permanent fixings.
• At any entry points for services (soil pipes, vents etc.), ensure that the membrane is properly sealed.
• Use of Novia breather membrane tapes.
• Ensure that for wall or warm roof applications, a vapour barrier is installed on the warm side of the insulation.
  

An improved U-value may be obtained by installing the membrane facing the reflective side backwards into a low-emissivity cavity. The low-emissivity cavity can be provided by installing a 25mm counter-batten, and there is also the additional benefit of minimising the build-up of any contaminants on the reflective surface. You should then install a second breathable membrane such as Novia Black on top of the Novia Reflex low emissivity layer facing outwards as normal.
