STEICOmulti Cover 5 is a 3-layer, translucent vapour control layer (VCL) with a fixed vapour resistance. It is engineered to provide airtightness in roof constructions, particularly when the work is being carried out from the exterior, such as laying the membrane over the rafters before installing insulation. STEICOmulti cover 5 is a heavy-duty, vapour-retardant airtightness membrane specifically designed for use in roof renovations where the insulation is installed from the outside. It is exceptionally robust and serves as a walkable surface during the construction phase.

CHARCTERISTICS

  • This membrane is reinforced with a high-strength mesh, making it extremely resistant to tearing. It is designed to be walkable when laid over solid substrates or rafters, providing safety and durability on-site.
  • With an sd value of 5m, it provides a controlled level of vapour retardation. This is ideal for most standard timber roof constructions, preventing excessive moisture from entering the structure while allowing for safe drying.
  • The semi-transparent nature of the material is a major advantage for installers, as it allows the underlying rafters or structural elements to remain visible for precise fixing.
  • It is highly water-resistant and can be used as a temporary weather protector during the construction phase, keeping the interior of the building dry until the secondary roofing layer is applied.
  • The top layer is engineered to provide a safer, slip-resistant surface for contractors working on the roof.

APPLICATION

  • Over-Rafter Renovation: Installed over the top of rafters in existing buildings before adding wood-fibre sarking boards and external insulation.
  • Airtightness Layer: Creating a continuous airtight seal across the external side of the structural timber.
  • Blown-in Insulation: Because of its high tear resistance, it is an excellent substrate for containing air-injected insulation like STEICOzell.
