STEICOmulti Renova - Vapour-Variable Airtightness Membrane - 1.5m x 50m roll

STEICOmulti Renova is a high-performance, humidity-variable vapour control layer (VCL) and airtightness membrane. Its unique intelligent coating allows it to change its vapour resistance (sd value) depending on the surrounding atmospheric conditions, making it the ideal choice for demanding roof and wall renovations where moisture management is critical. STEICOmulti renova is a vapour-variable (humidity-regulating) membrane. It is widely considered the safety net for high-performance renovations, as it can adapt its properties based on the ambient humidity.

CHARCTERISTICS

• Humidity-Variable Resistance is its standout feature. In winter, when the air is dry, the membrane becomes more vapour-retarding (sd increases to 25m) to stop moisture from entering the structure. In summer, when humidity is higher, the pores open up (sd drops to 0.4m), allowing any trapped moisture to dry out safely towards the interior of the building.
• Because it facilitates back-drying, it provides an extra layer of protection against interstitial condensation and timber rot, especially in constructions that are vapour-closed on the outside (like old bitumen flat roofs).
• It is reinforced with a robust mesh, making it strong enough to handle the stresses of installation and the weight of blown-in wood-fibre insulation.
• The membrane is semi-transparent, allowing you to easily locate rafters or studs for secure fixing.
• It is fully recyclable and manufactured to the same ecological standards as the rest of the Steico range.

APPLICATION

• Roof Renovations: Specifically where an existing external covering (like felt or lead) is vapour-tight, and you need to ensure the timber structure can breathe internally.
• Internal Wall Insulation: Used behind internal wood-fibre boards to manage the delicate moisture balance between the old masonry and the new insulation.

INSTALLATION

• To maintain the variable performance, never cover STEICOmulti Renova with a vapour-tight internal finish (like foil-backed plasterboard).
• Use standard plasterboard or timber cladding to allow the moisture to pass through the finish and be managed by the membrane.
