106mm Unilin FR/TP Thermal Ply Flat Roof Board - 100mm PIR Bonded to 6mm Plywood Board - 2400mm x 1200mm
106mm Unilin FR/TP Thermal Ply Flat Roof Board is a high-performance composite board designed for flat roof applications. It comprises a 100mm rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation board directly bonded to a 6mm WBP grade plywood. This combination provides both high levels of thermal insulation and a robust decking surface in a single operation, significantly streamlining the construction process for both new build and refurbishment flat roof projects. By integrating insulation and decking, the Unilin FR/TP Thermal Ply board simplifies installation, reduces the number of steps required, and can potentially save time and labour costs on site. Its lightweight nature also aids handling and installation. This dual-functionality, coupled with its high thermal performance and durable construction, makes it a practical and efficient solution for achieving a well-insulated and structurally sound flat roof.
Note:
- This high performance roof insulation board was formerly known as 106mm Xtratherm FR/TP Thermal Ply Flat Roof Board
- R-Value is for the PIR core
- Bonding of the Unilin Insulation board with other materials may be made by Unilin or a different fabricator.
- Composite construction board.
- Provides both high levels of thermal insulation and a robust decking surface in one product.
- Excellent thermal conductivity for effective heat loss reduction and energy efficiency.
- Offers a stable and durable substrate for waterproofing systems.
- PIR core features tough, fibre-reinforced thermoset laminate facings for enhanced strength and dimensional stability.
- Single-layer application reduces installation time and complexity compared to installing insulation and decking separately.
- Suitable for new build and refurbishment flat roof projects.
- Lightweight and easy to handle.
- Contributes to the overall fire safety of the roof structure.
- Achieves required U-values with potentially thinner construction compared to separate insulation and decking.
- Flat roof applications.
- Ensure the supporting structure (e.g., joists, rafters, existing roof deck if applicable) is sound, level, and free from debris.
- Start laying the boards from a defined starting point, typically the lowest point of the roof or an edge.
- Lay the boards with the plywood side facing upwards, ready to receive the waterproofing system.
- Ensure boards are laid with tightly butted joints. Do not force the boards together, as this can cause damage or distortion.
- Stagger the joints between adjacent rows of boards to avoid continuous lines of weakness.
- Mechanically fix the Thermal Ply boards to the supporting structure using appropriate fixings at specified centres.
- Ensure fixings are driven in straight and to the correct depth, without over-tightening which could compress the insulation.
- Cut boards as necessary using appropriate cutting tools to fit around penetrations (e.g., pipes, vents), rooflights, and at roof edges.
- Ensure accurate cutting to maintain a tight fit.
- Once the boards are laid and fixed, inspect the surface to ensure it is clean, free from damage, and that all joints are properly butted.
- Ensure all fixings are correctly installed.
- Once the Thermal Ply boards are securely installed, the chosen flat roof waterproofing system can be applied according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Ensure the waterproofing system is compatible with the plywood surface of the Thermal Ply board.
