10mm Profigips PVC Bellcast Bead (also known as a Drip Bead or Render Stop) is a critical component for any external rendering project. Its primary purpose is to ensure that rainwater running down the face of the building is directed away from the wall at the lowest point of the render, preventing moisture from soaking into the brickwork or the foundation. This profile is typically installed at the base of the render system, just above the damp proof course (DPC), or above window and door heads. It creates a physical break in the render and incorporates a specific downward slope to manage water runoff effectively.

CHARACTERISTICS

• The profile features a distinct nose or drip edge that hangs below the main body of the bead. This forces water to drop off the edge rather than tracking back underneath towards the wall.
• By directing water away from the base of the wall, it protects the masonry from splashback and helps prevent the buildup of moss, algae, and dampness at the ground level.
• Manufactured from high-quality, UV-stabilised PVC, it provides a tough, impact-resistant edge at the most vulnerable part of the wall, protecting the render from garden tools or foot traffic.
• It provides a perfectly straight, horizontal termination for the render, ensuring a professional and neat aesthetic finish across the bottom of the elevation.
• Unlike traditional galvanised steel beads, the PVC material will never rust or tea-stain, even in coastal areas or environments with high pollution.

APPLICATION

• Base of Render Systems: Installed at the lowest point of the external wall to create a bellcast detail that sheds water over the DPC.
• Above Openings: Used above window and door frames to ensure water running down the wall is diverted away from the frame and glass.
• Horizontal Terminations: Anywhere a clean horizontal break in the render is required, such as between a rendered upper floor and a brickwork ground floor.

INSTALLATION

• It is vital to use a laser level or a long spirit level when installing bellcast beads. Because they define the bottom line of the render, any slope or unevenness will be highly visible.
• n the UK, the bead should generally be positioned about 150 mm above ground level to ensure it sits clear of the soil or paving.
• The bead is fixed back to the substrate using stainless steel nails or screws, or it can be bedded into a dab of render mortar.
• For external corners, the bead should be mitred at a 45-degree angle to ensure a continuous drip line around the corner of the building.
