20x50mm Profigips PVC Rustication Bead with Mesh allows architects and contractors to mimic the look of traditional ashlar masonry—large, square-cut stone blocks—on a modern rendered or EWI façade. It adds depth, shadow lines, and a high-end architectural finish to otherwise flat walls. While most beads are designed to be hidden or to provide a simple edge, the Profigips PVC Rustication Bead is a decorative tool used to create aesthetic deep-channel grooves in the render.

CHARACTERISTICS

• The profile features two wings of alkali-resistant glass fibre mesh. These ensure the render is reinforced right into the corners of the groove, preventing the hairline cracks that often occur in recessed details.
• The rigid PVC core ensures that the groove is perfectly straight and uniform across the entire length of the wall, which is almost impossible to achieve by hand-cutting the insulation.
• The interior of the groove is made from high-quality white PVC. Because this part of the profile remains visible, it is engineered to resist yellowing and brittleness from sunlight.
• Available in various depths and widths, these beads create strong shadow lines that change throughout the day as the sun moves.
• Most versions come with a protective film inside the channel. This is removed after the rendering is finished, ensuring the internal decorative surface remains pristine and free of mortar splashes.

APPLICATION

• Architectural Façades: Used to break up large, monotonous expanses of render on commercial buildings or modern residential blocks.
• Traditional Ashlar Effect: Creating horizontal and vertical lines to give the appearance of classic stone construction.

INSTALLATION

• A channel must be routed or cut into the insulation board (PIR or EPS) to accommodate the depth of the PVC profile. The profile is then bedded into this channel using adhesive or basecoat.
• When joining multiple lengths, use specialist connectors to ensure the grooves align perfectly. Any misalignment in a shadow gap is very easy to spot from a distance.
• The main reinforcement mesh of the wall should be lapped over the wings of the rustication bead to maintain the structural integrity of the render skin.
• If the architectural design requires the groove to be a different colour (e.g., Anthracite Grey), the internal PVC surface can be painted with a suitable exterior grade paint after the protective film is removed.
