10mm Profigips PVC Render Stop Bead (often called the Cut-off Bar or Terminal Bead), is designed to provide a clean, sharp termination point for render or plaster. It is most commonly used where the render meets window frames, door frames, or where it joins a different substrate, such as timber cladding or exposed brickwork. This profile is used when you need a clean, reinforced end-point for your render, such as where a rendered extension meets a brickwork wall or where the render terminates at a door frame.

CHARACTERISTICS

• It provides a definitive edge that allows the renderer to finish their work in a perfectly straight line. This is particularly noticeable and important at eye level around doors and windows.
• Unlike galvanised or even some stainless steel beads, PVC will never rust. In the British climate, this is vital to prevent unsightly orange streaks from appearing at the edges of a building’s facade.
• The wing features precision-punched holes that allow the wet render or plaster to key into the profile. This creates a mechanical bond that locks the bead to the substrate, preventing it from pulling away over time.
• The visible nose of the bead is manufactured from toughened PVC, designed to withstand the knocks and scrapes common at door openings and high-traffic transition points.
• It is resistant to the ultraviolet light that can make cheaper plastics brittle, and it is completely inert, meaning it will not react with the salts or alkalis found in modern render systems.

APPLICATION

• Window and Door Frames: Finishing the render neatly against the frame to create a professional junction.
• Material Transitions: Where a rendered wall meets a different material, such as stone, wood, or metal.
• Damp Proof Course (DPC): Often used to provide a clean horizontal line at the base of the wall where the render must stop before reaching the ground or the DPC level.
• Internal Plastering: Creating clean lines against skirting boards, ceiling junctions, or different wall finishes.

INSTALLATION

• Always choose a bead depth that matches your intended render thickness. If you are using a 10mm thin-coat system, use a 10mm stop bead to ensure the nose sits flush with the finished surface.
• The bead should be fixed using dabs of adhesive or corrosion-resistant staples/nails. Ensure the bead is perfectly plumb or level using a spirit level before the adhesive sets.
• When finishing against a window or door frame, it is best practice to leave a small gap (approx. 3mm) between the nose of the bead and the frame. This gap should then be filled with a high-quality, flexible MS Polymer sealant to prevent water ingress.
• Wipe the nose of the bead clean as you work. This ensures that the finished result shows a crisp, white line that defines the end of the render.
