12.5mm Code 8 Lead Lined Plasterboard is a specialised building material engineered to provide reliable radiation shielding. It's constructed by bonding 3.55mm lead sheeting to a 12.5mm thick plasterboard core. This product is crucial in environments where protection from X-rays and gamma rays is essential, such as: healthcare facilities, including X-ray rooms, CT scan areas, and dental surgeries, veterinary clinics, where animal X-rays are performed and in industrial and research settings, where radiation equipment is used. Lead-lined plasterboard is a practical solution for creating safe environments in a variety of settings where radiation protection is paramount.

CHARACTERISTICS

  • It offers a dependable barrier against radiation, safeguarding staff and patients.
  • The integration of lead within the plasterboard allows for relatively straightforward installation compared to traditional lead lining methods.
  • It provides a finished surface that can be decorated like standard plasterboard.
  • It is used in conjunction with leaded battens or lead strips to ensure complete radiation protection at the joints of the boards.
  • The thickness of the lead within the plasterboard can be varied to suit the level of radiation protection required.

Machine cast lead (approved by the British Board of Agrément) carries the CE mark (BS EN 14783) confirming its suitability for use as an internal lining material.
