200mm Ancon Staifix Cavity Starter Tie is a screw‑in wall tie designed to simplify the construction of a new inner leaf of blockwork within an existing structure. It provides a secure and reliable method of tying new masonry to existing walls without the need for jointing, making it particularly suitable for applications such as extensions, barn conversions and internal alterations. Manufactured from stainless steel for long‑term durability, the tie is supplied complete with an 8mm nylon plug and a neoprene O‑ring to ensure a firm and weather‑resistant fixing. Once installed, it offers a stable connection across a range of cavity widths to suit cavities from 50mm up to 120mm. This tie is widely used by builders for its simplicity, reliability and compatibility with NHBC standards, making it a trusted choice for both domestic and commercial masonry work.

INSTALLATION

  • 8mm holes are drilled into the existing wall at a slight upward angle, plugs are inserted, and the ties are screwed into place at recommended vertical centres of 225 mm. When correctly embedded 65–85mm into the mortar joint of the new leaf, the system provides a robust and compliant structural link.
