40mm STEICO Safe is a multi-functional, rigid wood-fibre insulation board designed for roofs with increased rain protection requirements. It is the only board in the range that can be used on low-pitch roofs (as low as 5°) without the need for an additional full-surface roofing felt or membrane, thanks to its factory-laminated, vapour-permeable top layer. STEICO Safe is essentially the high-spec version of the Universal board. While most boards rely on their natural density and paraffin treatment to shed water, STEICO Safe goes a step further by including an integrated, factory-applied waterproof membrane. This makes it the specialist choice for high-exposure areas and very shallow-pitched roofs.

CHARCTERISTICS

  • Each board comes with a pre-laminated, 3-ply functional membrane. This membrane includes a self-adhesive overlap, allowing for a primary water-shedding layer to be created as the boards are laid.
  • Designed specifically for roof pitches between 5° and 15°, where standard wood-fibre boards would typically require a separate secondary membrane.
  • Because of the integrated membrane, STEICO Safe can remain exposed as a temporary roof covering for up to 8 weeks—double the exposure time of the standard Universal board.
  • Manufactured using the "Dry Process," it provides exceptional thermal performance.
  • Acts as the insulation layer, the wind-tight layer, and the primary secondary-drainage layer in a single installation step.

APPLICATION

  • Low-Pitch Roofs: For modern, shallow-pitched roof designs where water run-off is slower and the risk of ingress is higher.
  • Behind Brickwork Facades: Often used as a high-performance sheathing board behind masonry or brick-tie systems to provide a robust, insulated, and wind-tight "back-stop."
  • High-Exposure Sites: Recommended for buildings in coastal or mountainous regions where extreme driving rain is expected.
