10mm Profigips PVC Expansion Joint Profile for Render - Render Movement Joint Bead - 3m length - pack of 34

Length: 3000mm
Width: 10mm
Pack Quantity: 34

10mm Profigips PVC Expansion Joint Profile for Render (often called a Render Movement Bead) is used primarily for traditional sand and cement renders or thicker monocouche systems. This profile is specifically shaped to accommodate the depth of the render itself. This profile is essential for managing the natural shrinkage and thermal expansion of render. Without these joints, large rendered elevations are highly susceptible to random cracking as the material dries or reacts to seasonal temperature changes.

  • Render Depth: 10mm
  • Joint Width: Typically 10mm to 15mm visible width
  • Colour: White

CHARACTERISTICS

  • The profile features a central V-shaped section made of soft, flexible PVC. This allows the two adjacent rendered panels to move independently while the joint remains sealed.
  • The PVC wings are perforated to provide a strong mechanical key for the render. These are designed to be embedded directly into the render thickness rather than onto the face of insulation.
  • Being 100% PVC, this bead is an excellent alternative to stainless steel. It will never rust, making it ideal for coastal properties or areas with high humidity.
  • It provides a perfectly straight, neat vertical or horizontal line, acting as a guide for the renderer's rule to ensure a flat finish across the joint.
  • The high-grade PVC is resistant to ultraviolet light, ensuring the joint does not become brittle or discoloured over time.

APPLICATION

  • Large Masonry Elevations: Used to break up large areas of traditional render into smaller, manageable bays (typically every 5m to 7m).
  • Structural Transitions: Placed where a building extension meets the original structure to allow for differential settlement.
  • Change of Substrate: Used where render crosses from one material to another, such as from brickwork to blockwork, where movement rates differ.

INSTALLATION

  • The bead should be fixed to the masonry using dabs of render or stainless steel masonry nails. It must be perfectly plumb or level before the main rendering work begins.
  • Ensure the render is applied right up to the shoulder of the flexible V-joint. This ensures the movement is concentrated exactly where the profile is designed to flex.
  • While most commonly used vertically, these can also be used horizontally on very tall elevations to manage vertical expansion.
  • When the wall is painted, care should be taken not to fill the flexible V-joint with thick masonry paint, as this can reduce the ability of the joint to flex.
