Speedline AAH01B Acoustic Hanger – 35mm - Box of 100
35mm Speedline AAH01B Acoustic Hanger is a specialised anti-vibration component designed for use with the Metal Furring (MF) Ceiling System. Its entire purpose is to prevent sound energy (particularly impact noise and vibration) from transferring directly from the structural floor/ceiling above into the finished plasterboard ceiling below. Unlike the rigid SSL06 angle and AMF12B cleat, this hanger is resilient. It incorporates a flexible or damping element (often a synthetic rubber, neoprene, or spring-steel isolator) to de-couple the metal framework from the structural soffit. This interruption breaks the path of vibration, significantly improving sound insulation.
The 35mm figure refers to the drop or stand-off height provided by the hanger itself. This height, combined with the thickness of the MF channels and the resulting plasterboard lining, creates a necessary cavity depth for maximum acoustic benefit (often requiring mineral wool insulation placed in the plenum). The AAH01B is designed to be load-bearing. While its profile is different, it is certified to safely hold the weight of the MF grid, plasterboard, and insulation, with a typical Safe Working Load (SWL) often specified around 50kg per hanger.

Function within the System
The AAH01B is used in place of standard rigid hangers in projects where regulatory requirements (such as Part E of the UK Building Regulations for Resistance to the Passage of Sound) or client specifications demand enhanced acoustic performance:
- Vibration Reduction: By introducing a flexible element, the hanger absorbs vibrations caused by footfall on the floor above (impact sound) or airborne noise passing through the structure. This dramatically reduces the noise transferred to the room below.
- Mounting: The top section of the hanger is fixed directly to the structural soffit. The bottom section incorporates a metal slot or clip specifically designed to hold the SSMF7 Primary Channel.
- Flexibility: The 35mm version is a compact option, often suitable for refurbishment projects or areas where maintaining maximum room height is a priority, though a 70mm version (AAH02B) is also available for deeper cavities that deliver even greater sound insulation.
