Speedline AMF9B Pre-formed Clip is an essential connecting accessory used to construct the two-way grid framework of the Speedline MF (Metal Furring) Ceiling System. This clip provides the mechanical connection between the two main channels, the SSMF7 and the SSMF5. The AMF9B is a small, engineered component stamped from thin-gauge galvanised steel. It is designed with a specific, complex profile featuring hooks, tabs, and a spring-like mechanism. It is made from galvanised steel to ensure durability and resistance to environmental corrosion within the plenum space.

Function within the System

The AMF9B clip performs the single but critical function of connecting the secondary channels to the primary channels:

• Grid Assembly: The clip is used at every intersection where an SSMF5 Ceiling Channel crosses beneath an SSMF7 Primary Channel.
• Mechanical Connection: The clip is typically secured by hooking over the top edges of the load-bearing SSMF7 channel and then snapping or slotting into the side of the lighter SSMF5 channel (which sits below the SSMF7). This connection instantly locks the two components together, transferring the load from the SSMF5 and the attached plasterboard up to the SSMF7.
• Maintaining Level: Because the clip holds the SSMF5 at a fixed distance below the SSMF7, it ensures that the entire plane of the secondary channels—the surface to which the plasterboard is fixed—remains perfectly flat and level, provided the primary channels have been installed correctly.
• Acoustic Isolation: While not its primary role, the clip is often designed to provide a firm, secure connection that minimises rattling or movement, contributing to the overall acoustic stability of the completed system.
