CHARACTERISTICS

• A1 Non-Combustible Fire Rating is the highest possible safety classification. Because it is a mineral-based cement board, it will not burn or contribute to fire spread, making it an essential specification for high-rise residential projects and commercial developments.
• Unlike timber-based boards (like plywood or chipboard) or gypsum-based products, SilenceCem is unaffected by moisture and extreme temperature swings. It will not swell, warp, or rot, ensuring your tile bond remains permanent.
• The high-density nature of the board allows it to support the immense weight of modern large-format porcelain, natural marble, and stone slabs. It provides a rigid, deflection-free base that standard boards simply cannot match.

APPLICATION

• Floors: Overboarding timber floorboards, chipboard or T&G boards to reduce deflection before tiling
• Walls: Internal walls, partition walls, shower surrounds, kitchens and bathrooms

INSTALLATION

• Score and snap with a fibre cement knife or use a circular saw with a dust extraction system
• Screw with 25mm cement board fixings to timber floors at 250mm centres, or as specified by the manufacturer.
• Use a cement-based flexible tile adhesive to bond the boards to the substrate.
• Use SBR primer to coat boards if required as specified by the manufacturer
• Tape joints with alkali-resistant mesh tape to prevent crack propagation.
